With summer coming, you might have some questions about cleaning your panels and preparing them for optimal power generation in the upcoming months. Luckily, your panels are very easy to maintain and with little to no effort, they will be producing at the top of their game.
Solar panels are made of tempered glass, so they’re built to withstand hail and other rough weather. With the exception of tracking mounts, solar panel systems don’t have movable parts, which lowers possibility of any problems drastically.
Any issues with solar panel performance are usually related to electricity production, which is why we recommend monitoring your system’s production. By paying attention to changes in production, you can identify and address possible issues proactively.
Generally, your solar panels don’t need to be cleaned. If inversion, smog, dust, or dirt, coat your panels, you may see a dip in your production over time that can be remedied by cleaning your panels. Most of the time spraying your panels down with a hose will suffice to get any dust or grime off of them, we reccomend doing this in the morning or evening, after your panels have had some time to cool off. Synergy Power does offer some cleaning services if you are unable to do it yourself, or if your panels are a little higher up than you feel comfortable going. We are available at 801-590-9906 if you have any questions.
We don't reccomend using any soaps or detergents on your panels, this is because they can often contain abrasive chemicals that could cause damage to the glass covering your solar cells, some cleaners may also leave a film that will hinder production worse than dust or grime will.
Instances where birds nest and live under solar systems are relatively uncommon, however we have seen this happen from time to time. Typically, birds won't cause any damage but in some instances wires can be moved around and some bird waste might make its way onto your roof, which isn't the best look for your home.
Synergy power does provide the option for a mesh guard that will go around the edges of your panels, making it very difficult for birds and other small critters to make a home out of your solar system. If you are interested in a bird guard, feel free to give us a call at 801-590-9906 or email us at email@example.com
Solar panel manufacturers provide a range of warranties that guarantee you will have support and coverage in the unlikely event of an issue, such as hail or falling tree branches.
Power output warranties guarantee that panel performance won’t fall below a specified level over the term of the warranty (usually 25 years). For instance, a manufacturer might provide a warranty to guarantee that peak power output won’t fall below 85 percent for 25 years.
Some manufacturers will also include an additional warranty that promises a higher output level over a shorter period of time. As an example, a secondary warranty might guarantee no less than 90 percent of initial power output for the first 10 years.
Panels typically come with a workmanship warranty that protects consumers against defective panel parts, generally for the first five years of operation. Inverters also come with warranties, usually for 10 years.
In the case of a damaged panel, we are happy to help. We understand that your solar system is quite the investment and it's important to ensure that it's up and running to the best of it's abilities.
If you have any other questions, we at Synergy Power are always here to help.
